Demetri Martin

Thanks to my friend Laura I have discovered this guy, Demetri Martin that is just AWESOME. Do check him out @ YouTube. This is just a taste of his jokes, talking about Sames and Opposites while playing harmonica and guitar at the same time:

- "A cactus is the opposite of a chair... especially if your ass is bare"
- "A squirrel is the same as a can... when there's a BB gun in my hand"
- "Saying ´I apologize´ is the same as saying ´I'm sorry´... unless you're at a funeral"
- "Earrings are the same as sneezes... 2 is OK but 10 in a row is annoying"
- "An ex girlfriend is the same as an OK movie... I liked it at the time but I don't want to see it again. Especially if the movie... is kind of a bitch"

Much funnier when told by him ;)

Facebook

Facebook is fantastic.

Realmente no puedo esperar!!

Things I like

So I like a lot of things. What can I do? I'm a liker. Do not confuse with a licker. I am not a licker - I don't go around licking things, that's just my dog. To continue with the "I" paragraph on the first post, these are some other things I like:

- Archery
- Having a nice bathroom when I have to go
- The set of pipes that gives us the Internets
- The domain name "dametudinero.com" - refreshingly honest
- The number 42
- Flying - "There is an art, or rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss". If you are not familiar with the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy do it NOW. Meantime follow this link for complete instructions on how to fly.
- Obscure references to great books or movies
- Great books or movies
- The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
- Seeing cows on the beach (really - check out Cabo Polonio for that)
- Night. Not so much M.Night Shamalyan or whatever his name is.
- Ferris Bueller's day off. Classic!
- Killing mosquitoes
- Ron Burgundy
- Microwave ovens
- Microwave popcorn. MAGIC!!!
- Inga from Sveden ;)

Car craziness

One thing I like to analyze is the names car makers give to some models. For example:

Citroen C4

Who in his right mind would name a car after an explosive?? What's the slogan: "Citroen C4: Speed, luxury and ability to fuck up a Sherman tank"? Then again, it's a sound business model; buy car, blow up, need to buy new car. Oh wait... I just blew up! Crap.

(Note to self: must not hire Navy seals for marketing dept.)

Mitsubishi Pajero

This is too easy. Really - PAJERO????? Do you guys know absolutely NO spanish??? Let me suggest some names for next models;

- "Mitsubishi Wanker. Show everyone the loser in you"
- "Mitsubishi Jerkoff. You WILL enjoy this ride! (tissues included)"

Ford Fiesta

I like this one! Finally a car designed for parties. If it's a party of four that is. Ok, I can think of ways that can be fun. Maybe a joint venture with Mitsubishi: the new Fiesta Wanker! Maybe not...

Chrysler Neon

Only available in Miami, Vegas and surroundings of the Conrad in Punta del Este. Glows in the dark!

Daihatsu Charade

Yay, charades!! Makes for a great interactive campaign: "Two words! First word: 8 letters. First letter:..." Zzzzzzz.....

Other names:

- Datsun Bluebird: what if I want it in red? Will it fly away? Do I need to keep my cat away from it??
- Ford Escort: that's what I'm talking about! You other carmakers should take notes and sell your cars with escorts too.
- Honda Civic: it will never start a fight
- Mitsubishi Colt: don't mess with me!!
- Peugeot Boxer: when will you put your pants on??

First post!

This reminds me of an old site I used to visit daily, where the best thing ever was to write the first post commenting on some news... of course, the comment was just that: "First post!".

Anyways, this is not such a first post. But only because this is not a comment ;) Hablando en serio, the aim of putting this blog together was to have a way to express the random crap I think about every other day, so you'll be finding funny stuff, geeky stuff, business stuff, etc. As promised - random crap.

Oh, I'll write in whatever language I want to así que se van a encontrar con posts en español, posts en inglés and bilingual posts such as this. If you don't like it - tough luck ;) If you don't understand the other language, think of it as a good way to do something about it and learn it!!

I won't be editing my crap - it's supposed to be crappy so deal with it. I'd rather spend more time writing than editing. I don't like editing - it's too similar to bug hunting on really fucked up code (oh I'm a software engineer so you'll find this kind of references all around)

Ok, more things... I like Will Farrell, Mike Myers, Steve Carrell, british humour, Demetri Martin (latest addition - great find!) etc. I usually like to do what I suppose can only be called "observational humour" where I observe the reality and try to look at it from a funny angle. Sometimes it even works!! I like traveling. I like smart, nice and beautifull girls (duh!). I like my dog. I like to party. I like the friends that I like. I like my job (really!) I like to think I'll eventually play guitar with some level of ability. I like I. I like a lot of things.

(I shall call this last paragraph the "I" paragraph)

I think that's enough for a first entry. Hopefully I'll find the time to update the blog at somewhat regular intervals. It's certainly an interesting challenge ;)

See you around!!
